OX2: Full permitting process for Rambo wind farm

OX2 develops and sells wind and solar power parks and is one of the leading companies in the development of renewable energy in Europe. The company currently has operations in Sweden, Finland, Poland, France, Lithuania, Norway, Spain, Italy and Romania with headquarters in Stockholm.

Ecogain was hired to lead and carry out the environmental assessment of an area adjacent to the village of Rambo in Västerbotten County, which OX2 identified as suitable for wind power.

The assignment included the entire licensing process under the Environmental Code with consultation, environmental impact assessment (EIA) and many types of supporting studies. Ecogain project managed the work and supported OX2 in assessments and trade-offs, based on the documentation that was continuously developed.

On the basis of all this information, Ecogain carried out the environmental assessment and produced an EIA, based on the hierarchy of considerations, which led, among other things, to great consideration being given to biodiversity, both at the species and ecosystem level. Of all the environmental aspects assessed, the result was positive consequences for the aspects of natural resources/use of wind and climate and environmental effects, and minor negative or insignificant for the others.

If the project is permitted, the Rambo wind farm will be able to produce 475-600 GWh of renewable electricity per year, corresponding to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of approximately 285,000-360,000 tons per year, household electricity for approximately 110,000 homes per year or the consumption of 230,000-290,000 electric cars per year.

"Thank you very much for the good cooperation and good work! It has been a true pleasure to cooperate and good structure."
- Lovisa Håkansson & Anders Nilsson, Project Manager OX2
