Baltic Offshore Delta - consultation and exploration permit

Njordr Offshore Wind AB is investigating the possibility of establishing wind power in the Swedish economic zone in the Baltic Sea. Up to 300 wind turbines are planned, and their location outside the Stockholm area has good potential to help meet the growing need for renewable energy in a region that already has difficulty producing its own electricity and where opportunities for land-based wind power are limited.

Ecogain was hired to take overall responsibility for the consultation process for the project. This means that an obstacle assessment has been carried out, a consultation circle consisting of various actors and stakeholders has been defined and a consultation document has been prepared with information about the project. Ecogain has also handled the received consultation statements and compiled the consultation report where all information about the consultation is described. The consultation ended in February 2022.

In the event that Njordr Offshore Wind chooses to proceed with the project, in-depth investigations regarding mainly bottom conditions, natural values, bird life and marine archaeology will follow. The investigations will, together with views from the consultation, form the basis for the final design of the wind power facility and form the basis for the environmental impact assessment that is produced as a basis for the permit application.

If approved, the project has the overall potential to meet the current (2022) total energy needs of the Stockholm region. The renewably produced electricity contributes to the electrification of society and also to replacing energy sources with high carbon dioxide emissions.
