Vattenfall: Environmental coordination of permitting projects

Wind turbines in northern Sweden

In Västerbotten, Vattenfall's largest onshore wind farm Blakliden Fäbodberget is located. Ecogain has done the environmental reporting during the project and also been hired as environmental coordinators, with the task of ensuring that all conditions and commitments are met.

The wind farm, located in Lycksele and Åsele municipalities, contains 84 wind turbines and has a capacity of 353 MW. This corresponds to fossil-free energy for about 220 000 households.

In projects that require a permit under Chapter 9 of the Environmental Code, environmental reporting and environmental coordination are used to ensure compliance with environmental requirements.

Ecogain was hired as environmental coordinators to follow up on Vattenfall's compliance with the requirements of their permit. Ecogain has also conducted environmental reports on behalf of Vattenfall. Such an assignment involves basic supervision and field visits as well as verification that Swedish environmental legislation, permit conditions and commitments specific to the operation are complied with and documented.
