Porsche: Adaptation and environmental testing before car tests

Porsche is the German car brand that has made a name for itself for its light sports cars. Like several other car brands, Porsche conducts an extensive testing business during winter in Norrbotten's inland. Car testing is absolutely crucial for employment in small municipalities such as Arjeplog and Arvidsjaur.

Porsche faced challenging completion requirements in its application for a permit for the new car test facility. Ecogain was commissioned by Porsches to find ways to adapt the facility based on all the steps of the so-called "Mitigation Hierarchy" – avoidance, minimization, rehabliation and compensation.

SENSITIVE DESIGN AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUDICIAL REVIEW

The Mitigation Hierarchy is part of Ecogain's toolbox. We could therefore apply measures that would allow the new facility to be better adapted to nature and its conditions on site. We applied all the steps of the Mitigation Hierarchy; avoid damage, minimize damage, restore within the plant and finally compensate for residual damage.

Ecogain's environmental review process leader was included as expertixd in the environmental review in the Swedish Land and Environment Court. The result of Ecogain's work was that Porsche obtained their permission for the business.
