OX2: biodiversity and climate strategy

OX2 develops and sells wind and solar power farms and is one of the leading companies in the development of renewable energy in Northern Europe. The company currently has operations in Sweden, Finland, Poland, France, Lithuania, Norway, Spain, Italy and Romania with headquarters in Stockholm.

Ecogain has for several years supported OX2 in permit issues, nature inventories and in how to work with the consideration hierarchy to reduce its ecological footprint in the expansion of renewable electricity production.

In 2020, OX2 decided to coordinate and raise its level of ambition in relation to climate and biodiversity. Ecogain was brought in to develop strategic objectives, strategies and action plans for this.

The work was carried out partly by the management of OX2, in parallel with Ecogain analyzing previous projects and lessons learned from them, i.e. both top-down and bottom-up.

The work resulted in a clear common objective within OX2, as well as integrated plans for climate and biodiversity in each project. Dialogue with external stakeholders has been simplified and streamlined, and internally OX2 is now building even more pride in a more positive environmental footprint in ongoing projects.
