Parliament's environment committee says yes to nature restoration - a milestone in safeguarding biodiversity.

Today, the European Parliament's Environment Committee (ENVI) adopted the Nature Restoration Regulation (NRL) with a comfortable majority of 53 votes in favor, 28 against and 4 abstentions. While the regulation still needs to be adopted by the European Parliament Plenary and the EU Council, Ecogain welcomes today's decision as an important step towards a more sustainable future.

- This legislation is something we are already working on, and will need to continue for generations. But it is a necessary effort to protect our nature and our livelihoods," says Ecogain's founder Anders Enetjärn.

In a recently published agreement, the EU Council has set targets for the recovery of at least 20% of the EU's land and sea areas by 2030, with the aim of restoring all ecosystems in need of restoration by 2050. The Council's decision marks an important milestone in the work towards a more sustainable and greener future. But it is also important to emphasize the importance of continued cooperation with industry to effectively implement the NRL and achieve its ambitious goals," says Anders Enetjärn.

- Our cooperation with industry is crucial to the successful implementation of the NRL and also to achieving the targets set in the NBSAP," explains Enetjärn.

NBSAP stands for National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan, and is a tool for countries to plan and implement actions to conserve and sustainably use biodiversity.

Businesses give renewed support to the legislation: "

Ahead of today's crucial vote on the EU Nature Restoration Act, a group of leading European companies renewed their support for the legislation. They are calling on Members of the European Parliament and EU countries to wholeheartedly support the final adoption of the Nature Restoration Act. This is a strong example of how business can and should act as a driving force for positive change.

- We at Ecogain look forward to contributing to the realization of these goals and working with both public and private stakeholders to promote sustainable development and preserve biodiversity.
