Inauguration of Boliden's first sustainability park in Sarkanenä

Boliden's sustainability park in Sarkanenä outside Aitik is now being inaugurated.

On September 18, Boliden's sustainability park in Sarkanenä outside Aitik will be inaugurated. This is Boliden's first sustainability park, and we at Ecogain are proud to have been involved in developing and building the area.

A park with hiking trails and nature experiences for young and old.

The park includes new hiking trails, barbecue areas, an adventure trail for children and adults, and lots of interesting information about the nature of Sarkanenä and Boliden's work on biodiversity and ecological compensation.

Information boards along the trails tell about local natural values and Boliden's work on biodiversity and ecological compensation. The expansion of the sand reservoir at the Aitik mine meant that several important natural values were affected. In addition to a beautiful nature experience, there is much in the forest to learn about ecological compensation, natural forest, species worthy of protection, dead wood and biodiversity!

Part of Boliden's efforts to restore nature

The Sustainability Park in Sarkanenä is part of Boliden's important work to compensate for lost natural values, to give back what has been borrowed to both society and nature. It is also a way of demonstrating how we can restore nature, create new natural values and increase biodiversity, and show the importance of this for future climate change mitigation.

The opening day festivities begin with the unveiling of a specially built birdhouse, followed by a hike on the newly opened trails, and ending with a coffee break in the hut.
